Kolej Cendana : The Breakdown III

In this section, I shall explaining the area surrounding Kolej Cendana. I will go one by one, informing you all the deatails that I know of that place. Lets go, shall we? Geez!

The Bus Stop

Self-explainatory, right? Geez! Anyway, you can get taxi, public buses, and the INTEC bus from here. For the public bus, only T602 comes to this bus stop. [side note: T = tempatan]

The Nursery

The Police Station

Balai polis seksyen 6. What more can i say? Sometimes, you'll see patrol cars in the areas. However, I can still hear mat rempits loud and clear. he..he..he. But, you can lodge a complain if you receive a mishap or whatnot.

PETRONAS

Other than being a petrol station for filling up your car/motocycle/bla/bla, this PETRONAS has the only ATM machine in seksyen 6. Has maybank and a shitty CIMB ATM machine for your moolah.

Shophouses

There is a row of shophouses about 5 minutes walking distance from the hostel. There you will find :

A) Dawood

It is a mamak stall + a malay stall at the side. Serves typical mamak food [tosai, nasi goreng, mee goreng, roti canai, tandoori, naan, etc] Has nasi campur too. But I extreamly hate it!!!!!!!!!!!Why you ask? 'Cause :

  • The food is expensive. I am not the type who saves every single penny and drinks water for lunch. But I still consider the food darn expensive. Furthermore, the food is just.... so-so.

  • Not only that, after awhile I get utterly bored with the place. I even get sick after eating all the fried stuff. [I not very strong... *boo-hoo*]

B) The Mini-Mart

This is the place where you buy all your household items and groceries. For instance, you might buy bread, drinks, water, newspaper, pens, books, A4 paper, test pad, brooms, dustpan, bowls, etc, from here. BUT, like Dawood, the prices are exorbitant. Over-priced. However, there is no other alternative in the area.

C) The Doby

This is where you can get your clothes wash...with some money of course. (lolwut?) Service is great and you can get back your clothes in about 1-2 days all washed and smelling clean. Weeee~

The Surau

The Internet Cafe`

Ah... my favourite place [i think...] in this entire area. I am an internet addict. Woot! The speed in the internet cafe is fast; there is no restriction whatsoever, but of course there are some rules. but......... rules are meant to be broken, right? <.<

The Scary Path

I know this just MY opinion, MY feeling, MY phobia. Its just beside the hostel. *Shiver* *shiver*

That is all for now. I will upload more pictures as I go along. 'till then I bid you farewell and All the best. This is end of my trilogy of "Kolej Cendana"

kolej Cendana : The Breakdown II

I am continuing from last time. This time I will eplain about the useless kolej's compound. Let's go, shall we? Geez!

I will break this useless compound into 3 parts :

  • Utilities

  • Sports

  • Entertainment ( Don't get your hopes up =_=")

Utilities

Kolej Cendana has a front office for all its students needs. For instance, students will have to go to the office to register, re-register, make a complain about the room or the kolej, submit their key when after room clearance and whatnot. And the usual office hours apply; 8am -- 5pm

Besides the office, Kolej Cendana has a room to wash clothes. 2 washing machines are in the room, and no they aren't hi-tech. My roomate uses the washing machines and sometimes they breakdown. Moreover, the washing usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes because the water pressure here is low. But you can do it the manual way; that is to pour in water yourself into the washing machine. me? I don't wanna create more work, so I use the laundry service [which i'll explain next time in more detail].

There is a guard house. Its for safety, bla bla bla bla....... Even so, some seniors said they had their laptops stolen, so don't count on the guards at all. I think it is like "You bring electronic devices at your own risk" sort of thing... Oh! You also get the doctor form from the guard house too.

Not forgetting the food van that come everyday except Fridays. It sells nasi campur, nasi lemak, nasi ayam, some snacks and a few flavoured drinks. Try to like as it is one of the 3 food sources that is available here. (Ha Ha ....*sob* *sob*)

Sports

In Kolej Cendana, you can play sports. So to those sport fanaaaaaatics, don't worry. Your drug can still be obtained. There is a basketball court, futsal court, badminton court. You can play soccer, basket ball, badminton, sepak takraw and hockey. Not only that, there are silat classes every week that you might want to join.

Entertainment

First of all, there is the Televison Room. It has a 24" flat-screen tv. [Nope not plasma. Not LCD]. Has astro. The channels that are available are news, variety, movies, and the usual stuff. Sad for me because there is no cartoons for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *sob*

Next, there is the Computer room. Or maybe I should Cendana Cafe` =.=". If you are thinking hi-speed internet, popular games and online vacations while you are here, THINK AGAIN DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!
The speed is slow. There are no games. Furthermore, game websites are block by a proxy. [still trying to figure out how to bypass]. With that said, your online experiances is super, duper restricted. So much for learning on the web. On the other hand, you can do the quiantessentials such as checking your daily emails, chatting online, surfing the web for some news, etc.

Here are some random pictures that I took out of pure, unadulaterated boredom.

To be continued~

P.S. I don't miss Austin, KJ ^_^ What is done can't be undone. So, why so depressed, KJ? New Class = New memories!

The First Day I Went to Shah Alam!

29th June 2008. After receiving the official JPA scholarship (hehehe), My family and I (except my sister and brother) ventured into uncharted territory... Shah Alam!!! Well, the sun was shining brightly and that, for me prove to be darn useful.

opposite the Kolej Cendana.

The date to rendezvous was to be 30th June 2008, 8a.m. So, My family and I departed from the Hotel that we stayed at and made our way to the cold, heartless, and pink Kolej Cendana. And you wouldn't believe the gargantuan people who were there. It was chaos. Just chaos. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, babies, and a whole lot of cars, mostly Protons. Noise everywhere. Shouting here and there. Anyway, my family and I alighted the car, walk up to the dark, main gate of the hostel and , and that was my first steps to a long, arduous journey I'll never forget. More on that later.

Anyway, I then proceeded on alone while my family stay behind. I then proceeded to register myself in the long, arduous registration. From getting my room key to paying RM 25 and to getting a lousy ass shirt. =( After successfully completing the registration process, I was utterly relieved. I thanked God and said a prayer. But it ain't over 'till its over. And it wasn't. Big, scary people came closer to me. They proclaimed to be the volunteers to help new students. They called themselves the PMS - pembantu mesra siswa. They commandeered me to follow them to my new room. I was frightened. I had no choice. I tagged along with them.

That led me seeing my new "house". It felt cold, unwelcoming, evil, immoral and....... cold. I, however, had absolutely no choice. I had to live here and live here I had. So with that sad thought, I went down to meet up with parents and told them I had to bring up my stuff to my new "house". So off we went to bring 2 luggage and a few bags containing ordinary stuff, such as clothes, clothes and clothes. It took awhile to get the stuff to the new "house", but it was possible, barely though.

The front door to the "house" - The right door is mine...

My parents saw the room and they didn't anything. They were the speechless. After a full 5 minutes, my father said " so,,,,hmmm, this is it, huh?" Well, I thought to myself, this is what hostels are supposed to be like. Then my mother started to unpack my stuff just to make sure everything was in order. The time now was 10.30a.m. By this time, I have already greeted 2 of my new "housemates" - Sharma and Amin. Cool fellows. More on them later.

Soon, I returned to Ground Level (by stairs!!!!) to attend a mandatory talk by the officers present on that day. The main idea was that the JPA officers were late and were arriving close to noon. Bah, but it didn't matter 'cause this was something I had to get use to. So after wasting time hanging and chatting with my new "housemates", those JPA officers came at 11.20a.m. All the JPA students came down and lined up and proceeded to hand over the documents. By this time, I coincedentally met Wei Jie, but I already knew he was coming. ;) Even more surprising he and I happen to get the same room. Woah!

Later, I had my lunch at the infamous Dawood, which was my first step to more sadness and scary experiances. Prices were exorbitant. Even my parents were shocked when the bill came. Well, nothing could be done. We headed back to Kolej Cendana, and to my dismay, it was time my mother and father had to leave. Sad I was. I waved goodbye to them and headed to my new "house". I sat on my bed, took out my laptop and watched some anime.

'Till next time - Tootles~
